Access to Higher Education

The Access to Higher Education Group will meet again on Thursday, July 1 at 9:00 a.m. in the Sleight Room in the Werner Center on the Newark Campus of The Ohio State University.

Access to Higher Education is a very active group, meeting the first and third Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. on the campus of The Ohio State University - Newark, which is a shared campus with the Central Ohio Technical College (COTC). COTC is the fastest growing two-year college in Ohio and has more students on the Newark campus than The Ohio State University. With COTC, OSU, and Denison University, Licking County is a hot-bed for higher education. The goal of the Access to Higher Education work group is to provide all Licking County youth with avenues for learning beyond high school. This may begin as early as the elementary ages and sometimes as late as junior high and high school.

Access to Higher Education is researching how to implement a P-16 Council in Licking County to create a college-going culture and well-educated communities. The group has two units working on the project: Funding and Asset Mapping. For more information about forming a P-16, go here.
